the norm?
interesting…how what is considered “normal” for some is an outrageously mind-boggling, downright blasphemous concept for another. for me it’s the idea of having kids as an almost 25-year old. i often hear the question “when are you gonna start having some babies? from [usually older] family members. their norm? having at least one kid beforeĀ graduating from high school by some ain’t shit bitch ass boy with no goals in life. oh, and pursuing a college education is not even on the agenda. now, guess who’s the “abnormal” one in this family. me. almost 25-year old single with no children, college-educated, career-driven woman. when am i gonna start having some babies? how about when i’m a) in a committed, monogamous relationship (not a fan of thatĀ marriage thing), b) both my significant other and myself are financially stable, c) both my significant other and myself are emotionally fit to be parents, and most importantly d) whenever i fucking feel like it. geez. my ovaries and uterus are not working on your time. how about telling your dumbass children and grandchildren that there IS something wrong with having kids when a) you’re still a damn child yourself, b) you still living with your parent(s), and c) buying condoms and/or going on the pill is a hell of a lot cheaper.
